The Great Gatsby & Wildfox Couture

Capitale, 130 Bowery
The Great Gatsby & Wildfox Couture teamed up this season to host an unforgettable kick-start to New York Fashion Week! Cocktails, hors d’oeuvres & the most classic champagne by the glass were served while we all waited patiently for the opening act to begin.  As we finally entered the hall, the overall ambiance wafted of timeless New York chic, circa 1920. The show began with models playfully prancing, posing & strutting their stuff down the runway as forever hits like  “Diamonds Are a Girls Best Friend” & “Constantinople” filled the air.  The overall theme was 1920’s flapper girl meets New York hipster.  Sequin shift dresses, beaded & sequin tassel shorts in shades of pastel pinks, blues & greens paired with oversized graphic sweaters gave a glamorous yet relaxed look.  Loose slouchy tee’s reading “I Made It Through Prohibition” & “Piece of Cake” are sure to be seen on the streets this fall.  Accessories made a huge statement this season at WildFox Couture with the ever-coveted muff making an appearance as well as the triumphant return of the turban, diamond headpiece & fur hat.  The final act was an elaborate number including dancing models, a live sax & our main man Sinatra singing a grand ode to “New York, New York”.  The party continued as guests jammed to the live band & took pictures in the old school photo booth (oh yes, did we mention there was a photo booth!?).  The night was a great reminder of just how fabulous New York Fashion Week can be.
