Tom Ford Has His Mind On Lipstick, Saunders X Smythson, American Designers Take On Paris, And More…

September 7, 2011

For Tom Ford, a successful film career and a new womenswear line is not enough. Thus, the designer “spent part of the summer thinking deep thoughts about lipstick.” The Telegraph sat down with the designer, who was just nominated for Brand of the Year for the British Fashion Awards, to find out what else is on his mind. How does Scottish designer Jonathan Saunders look on paper? If it’s anything like the designer’s new collection of stationery for Smythson, it’s a mix of William Morris-style prints, color blocking, and contrasting fabrics. [Vogue U.K.]

Ten past CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund designers, including Prabal Gurung, Eddie Borgo, and Billy Reid, have been selected as the “Americans in Paris.” For the program, underwritten by Tommy Hilfiger, the designers will be able to display their work in a Paris showroom from October 1-3. [CFDA]

Isn’t this juicy—Pamela Skaist-Levy and Gela Nash-Taylor, the ladies who reinvigorated the velour tracksuit, are ready to take on the fashion world once more. The co-founders of Juicy Couture are set to launch a new “California-eccentric” collection, named Skaist-Taylor, for Fall 2012. [WWD]
